Improve Your Mental Health With These Affirmations

Repeat after me: Asking for help only makes me stronger.

I’m gonna be really honest and not so “positive” here. Life is hard and can be really sucky. You can potentially experience something draining every single day. Bills, miserable children, hard-to-satisfy boss, sick spouse, dead car battery and no free time. It’s all horrible and somehow we all manage to power through it.

Sure, these things aren’t happening to everybody everyday. But it’s the reality for many and no one knows it. That’s because we go through the day pretending everything is fine. We act like we aren’t feeling lost and afraid and completely ignore the feelings of uncertainty making our internal struggle invisible to everybody around.

Some people do it so well that they don’t even realize they’re struggling internally. And many of them are dealing with this and afraid to admit that they are not ok aloud.

Daily Affirmations to help improve your mental health

When was the last time you did a mental health check?

It’s normal to lose sight of your feelings and internal struggle after running on autopilot for so long. Ask yourself the hard questions. Journal about your day and identify your triggers. And at the end of it all, ask yourself if you need more help and do what you can to get the help you need.

Now let’s be honest, “help” isn’t always easy to find once you throw insurance, time, kids, work and lack of support in the mix.

That’s where daily mantras and positive affirmations come in. If you know me, you know how I feel about speaking positively to yourself. My mom always told me positive thoughts lead to a positive life and always emphasized the power of speaking kindly to myself. It’s the premise this whole blog is based on. So that’s why I make an effort to say something uplifting and reassuring to myself on a daily basis. I encourage you to do the same.

Now, let me be very honest for a moment. Saying affirmations everyday is not enough to improve your mental health on its own. But it can help.

Yes, positive words can lead to a positive life. Sometimes you need more than that to get your mental health in order. Don’t be ashamed to join a support group, ask for help, write a letter, or whatever you need to do bring some peace to yourself. I know it’s not easy finding that release, but until you figure it out please talk to the person who’s always listening to your most vulnerable inner thoughts… yourself.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, I’ve created a mental health focused mantra chart to help get you in the right state of mind. While, I’d love for you to use this chart regularly, I still encourage you to dig deeper and continue working on your mental health.

Until you can talk to someone who can help, you can always talk to yourself.
