If the Universe Gave Us an Extra Day…

“There’s just not enough hours in the day.”

How many times have you either said that to yourself, to a friend or thought it when staring at a long to-do list?I know I have on nearly a daily basis. No matter how well you plan, how concise your to do list is or how early you get up, you can never manage to get everything you’d like accomplished. So we wish, hope and pray that somehow we’ll be granted with just a few extra hours.

And when it doesn’t happen we look on in awe at all the other people who seem to get everything done. Like how the hell did Beyonce manage to film a video, perform at the Super Bowl and prepare for a tour no one knew about? Or how do all those “sharks” manage to keep track of all the business ventures from Shark Tank? Hell, how did the working mom across the street manage to do story time at school, prepare for the work presentation, cook dinner and take all four kids to after school activities in the same day all while managing to look as glamorous as Beyonce.

You can't do it all, but you can do all that matters.

You can’t do it all, but you can do all that matters.

As much as we may try to do it all, the truth is we can’t. We can only do so much. Though you’re trying you’re best, it will only go so far. But you have the power to be like those women you question. Yes, you can be the mom who cooks a great meal and be there for her kids. And yes, you can be a showstopper just like Beyonce. Why? Because you have the same amount of hours in the day as Beyonce. The only difference between you and the Beyonce’s of the world who seem to manage to do it all is that they are taking advantage of every moment of each day for 365 days.

But this is year a little different. The universe gifted us with 366 days finally answering all our prayers for just a little more time. That means you have an advantage. We’ve been given the opportunity to take an extra 24 hours and run with it… err leap with it. Even though your to-do list is likely the length of a CVS receipt, it’s no excuse to not take advantage of this extra day and do something amazing with it. Now’s your chance to do something out of the ordinary and do it with confidence, pizzazz and spunk. Today is your chance to

Finish up that novel you’ve been trying to get through.

Take that new class at the gym

Wear that spunky new red lipstick you’ve been too shy to venture out with.

Volunteer with your favorite organization

Allow yourself to do things you normally don’t have time for today. Or take it a bit further and do something you’ve always been too nervous to try. Take that leap of faith and make the next big step that’s been holding you back. Leap with hope.

Leap Day is proof that our prayers have and can be answered. After all, we did get that extra time we’ve desired without any promises to give up cookies for a year or swear off curse words. And this answered prayer is just one more sign that we are capable of doing great things no matter how much time we have.

The bottom line is use Leap day and every day to be happy, deliver hope and be the best version of you.

Leap day comes only once every four years. Make this one a day to remember.

And if ever you’re not sure as to how these extra few hours should go, simply ask yourself. “What would Beyonce do?”

TERRIfic Words: You can’t do it all, but you can do all that matters.

How do you plan to spend Leap Day? What things do you usually not have time to accomplish?

Love this. I JUST talked to my husband about finishing my novel because I’ve put it off too long, and then to read that in your post just made me smile. Thanks for sharing!
