Change your thoughts and you’ll change your world.

Hi! My name is Terri and I have a problem. I’ve got a great career, killer rhythm, a sense of style, good health, loving husband, and crazy obsession with the color purple. So what’s the problem you ask? My mother.

See my mother is crazy. I love her to death, but she drives me crazy because she talks to herself ALL THE TIME! And growing up I never passed up the opportunity to let her know it. I always said I felt bad for dad because he’d be stuck listening to my mom babble to herself for a lifetime.

BOY do I wish I was easier on my mom back then!

As my luck would have it, I’m now turning into her. Guess, I should have paid attention to all those, “karma’s a bitch warnings” when I was picking on her. Maybe if I had done that, I wouldn’t be the crazy chick down that street that’s always talking to herself.

However, there’s a silver lining. I didn’t know it as a child, but my mom was on to the something. It turns out the things you say and think to yourself end up manifesting in your life.

So instead of dreading the fact I’ve become the loopy lady who talks to herself while cooking dinner, grocery shopping and even dancing with friends, I’ve decided to embrace it by talking to myself like my own my best friend.

My mom always taught me that when I change my thoughts, I change my world.

Keeping that in mind, I make sure I pledge to start each morning giving myself a pep talk in the morning.

Phrases like, “I’m so ugly and fat.”

“I’ll never get out of debt.”

or “My life is going nowhere” are the furthest things from my lips.”

Instead, I like to tell myself that

“I’m amazing.”

“I will be debt free.”

“I can and will live richer”

And of course my favorite as of late,

“Today is the day I do the impossible.”

(I know it sounds crazy, but we’ve already established that I’m crazy just like my mom.)

You can try to talk me out of it, but  I know the truth. I can do the impossible and you can too.  I know if something can be manifested in my mind, it can be manifested in my life. The problem is not enough people believe it. Instead, they believe the discouraging words from peers, and listen to stories about “reality” from coworkers.  That only leads to people living lackluster, unfulfilling, unhappy, and dishonest lives. It doesn’t have to be that way.  The truth is, another person’s reality doesn’t have to be yours. You are capable of creating your own happiness. My mission is to help you find it by talking yourself into it.

I want everyone to believe as strongly as I do about being happy and doing the impossible. I want you to  feel motivated enough to be better than you were yesterday.

And that’s what brings us to the Terrific Words blog. While here, you’ll find a reason to smile, a reason to laugh, and reason to enjoy your life as it stands now. And within each post, you’ll find fabulous words to say to yourself that will motivate you to live your best life as well as Terrific Quips that will assist in getting you through the day.

Most importantly my goal is for this blog is to be the silver lining in your life as you are reminded to go through life with hope regardless of your state.

Life becomes terrific when you say it is
