It’s December 1st. In case you weren’t aware, it’s also known as Giving Tuesday. It’s a day dedicated to giving to those who are the most generous and do what they can to make the world a better place; usually non-profit organizations. And though it’s a day with a great purpose, it’s one I often dreaded. Why? Because I’d often have nothing to give. After paying student loan debts, I’d have nothing left to share with those in need. As someone who always felt so strongly about changing the world, it made me feel guilty. I believed if I felt strongly about a particular cause, I should be able to put my money where my mouth is.

It took me a while, but I realized that putting my heart where my mouth is just enough when it comes to giving on such an occasion. Instead, of focusing on the financial aspect of Giving Tuesday, I chose to focus on the warmth, kindness and the way doing good made my heart tingle. I took the sentiment, ran with it and shared that feeling with the world.

If it’s a movement or organization you feel strongly about, consider dedicating a Facebook status to it, mentioning it on a blog post or even discuss it at your job. Let people know why a certain position, group or change is worth the time. Chances are your passion on the topic just might be enough fuel someone else to look into too. Raising awareness is one of the best things you can give on Giving Tuesday.

Sometimes sharing passion loudly can be even more powerful than giving financial assistance.  quietly; especially on days such as Giving Tuesday
